NPR ombudsman on the Connection 11 am EST
Tue Feb 08, 2005 at 08:13:50 AM PDT
If you listen (or refuse to listen) to the Connection, the NPR ombudsman is the guest. Now's your chance to call him and complain directly how it's become a toothless tiger that might as well be MSM lite.

Personally, I think they're doing pretty well considering that they openly take gummint money.
edit: he just corrected that misconception. NPR is a private foundation, and only 1% comes from CPB grants.
Bug-blogging
Fri Nov 12, 2004 at 01:21:13 PM PDT
In the spirit of cat-blogging, I offer up bug-blogging.
I like bugs. I like dragonflies. I enjoy when my cats line up cicadas in the backyard.
Besides, I think that emerald borer is shiny. And it's Friday.

This is a Japanese beetle called tamamushi, or "jewel-bug". I've only seen pictures, but apparently the iridescence shifts from red to green depending on the angle. The word for its color, tamamushi-iro, means something that looks beautiful from all sides but always different.
Seems like an apt metaphor for something.
Can we talk about Iraq now?
Fri Nov 05, 2004 at 05:36:01 PM PDT
The Weapons of Mass Deception didn't go away.
Abu Ghraib didn't go away.
Al Qaqaa didn't go away.
And I know he has nothing to do with Iraq, but Osama Bin Laden sure as hell didn't go away.
The election seems to have knocked it completely off the pages. What can we do to get it back on the table?
